About Us

The City Club is a close network of friends, and their invited colleagues and friends, who have over the years enjoyed drinking together in the many bars of central London, and in more recent years Leeds.

The Club's origins date back to 1994 when a team of Open Systems Consultants found themselves working in small numbers at various clients across London and needed regular meetings to catch up on their own firm's business. These "half day" meetings were always followed by a networking session. Yes, you guessed it - a half day of drinking!

These sessions were christened The City Club in 1996 and at their peak meetings were held monthly. Later many of the team were engaged with financial services clients in the square mile, and for nearly three years the City Chapter met for weekly sessions.

Even now, many years later, the majority of that original team still attend Club events. Membership has grown significantly with new colleagues joining the team and existing members changing jobs and coming into contact with new "eligible" colleagues and clients, and so it goes on.

Some things don't change, the type of person invited to join The City Club. We all appreciate a decent drink and a healthy exchange of views and information in relaxed surroundings! The bulk of the membership remains technology focused, and over the last few years there has been a noticeable bias towards Information Security.
